Chrome-vanadium, drive sizes and what a home kit really needs.
What buyers ask before choosing hand tools — steel grades, drive sizes, SAE versus metric and set sizes. If yours is not here, write to info@solvieraavenue.shop and a person will answer it.
What do you sell?
Hand tools for home and workshop: multi-bit screwdrivers, wire strippers, multi-function pliers, locking plier sets, bypass pruners, putty knife sets, SAE impact sockets, household tool kits and large mechanics sets.
What to look at first
Steel and finish
Chrome-vanadium is the usual grade for hand tools; chrome plating resists rust but says nothing about the steel underneath. Impact sockets are a different, softer alloy on purpose — they deform rather than shatter.
Drive size
Quarter-inch for electronics and interior trim, three-eighths for most car and household work, half-inch for suspension and anything needing real torque. Buying one size and adapting up is how sockets get split.
SAE or metric
Indian and Japanese hardware is metric; a lot of imported equipment is SAE. A set in the wrong system will round off fasteners. Check before ordering — the listing states which.
Can I use a chrome socket on an impact wrench?
No. Chrome sockets are hardened to resist wear and will shatter under impact; impact sockets are softer and thicker so they absorb it. This is a safety point rather than a durability one — a shattered chrome socket throws fragments.
How big a set do I actually need?
For household work, a multi-bit driver, a plier set and a modest socket set cover almost everything. A 200-piece mechanics set is mostly duplicate sizes in two systems; buy one if you work on vehicles, not because the piece count looks generous.
How do I stop them rusting?
Dry them after use, keep the case closed, and put a silica sachet in the tray during monsoon. Surface rust on unplated steel wipes off with oil; pitting does not, and pitting starts with a tool put away damp.
Do pruners need sharpening?
Yes, and more often than people expect. A bypass pruner that crushes rather than cuts is blunt, not broken. Sharpen the bevel side only, keep the pivot clean and oiled, and it will outlast several cheap replacements.
What does delivery cost and how long does it take?
Free on orders of ₹1,499 and above; a flat ₹79 below that. Order before 3:00 PM IST on a working day and we pack it within 1 business day; transit is 2–7 business days, so most orders arrive within 3–8 business days of confirmation.
How can I pay?
UPI (prepaid) or Cash on Delivery, and nothing else. We do not accept credit cards, debit cards, net banking, PayPal or third-party wallets, so no such option appears at checkout. COD is available on most serviceable PIN codes at no extra charge.
Can I return something I changed my mind about?
Yes — within 10 days of delivery, provided it is unused and in its original packaging with the invoice. Used or sharpened tools cannot come back. Approved refunds are processed within 6 business days.
